Area Nurse Consultant, RN

Location: Kansas — Regional Travel
Position Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Area Nurse Consultant, RN to provide clinical leadership and operational support to skilled nursing facilities throughout Kansas. This position will partner with facility nursing leadership to promote high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, and strong nursing outcomes.

The ideal candidate is an experienced long-term care/SNF nurse leader with strong knowledge of CMS regulations, state requirements, quality standards, clinical operations, and nursing best practices .

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight and support to skilled nursing facilities throughout Kansas.
• Partner with Directors of Nursing and facility leadership to improve clinical outcomes and quality of care.
• Conduct regular facility visits, clinical audits, assessments, and quality reviews.
• Monitor compliance with CMS, state, and other applicable regulatory requirements .
• Identify clinical and operational risks and develop effective corrective action plans.
• Provide guidance and education to DONs, nursing leadership, and facility staff.
• Review clinical documentation, care plans, medication management, infection prevention, and nursing practices.
• Assist facilities with survey preparation, survey response, and regulatory follow-up.
• Analyze quality measures and clinical trends and develop strategies for improvement.
• Support implementation of policies, procedures, and evidence-based nursing practices.
• Assist with investigations, root-cause analysis, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to nursing leadership.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote resident-centered care.
• Travel regularly throughout assigned Kansas facilities.

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license required.
• Previous skilled nursing facility (SNF)/long-term care experience required.
• Previous experience as a DON, Regional Nurse Consultant, Clinical Nurse Consultant, or other nursing leadership role strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CMS, Medicare/Medicaid, state regulations, and long-term care requirements .
• Experience with clinical audits, quality assurance/performance improvement, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple facilities and priorities.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout Kansas.
