Department 37707 Aurora Sinai Medical Center - Day Surgery Center Status Full time Benefits Eligible Yes Hours Per Week 32 Schedule Details/Additional Information Monday through Friday with rotating start times between 0600 and 0830 plus, approximately 3-4 closing shifts per 4-week schedule Hours for the closing shift vary based on the surgical schedule Pay Range $38.20 - $57.30 Registered Nurse (RN) – Same Day Surgery Sinai 0.8 FTE Where you will work Downtown Milwaukee, WI, United States Patient Bays: 20 Patient Population: outpatient procedures prep and recovery of outpatient ortho, GYN, general bariatric, robotic, urology, plastics, dental and ECT patient and IV therapy, Pre-admission testing Culture: Collaborative, friendly, caring, and supportive Skill Mix: Experienced nurses and aides Staffing & Ratios: Elective surgeries scheduled 0715–1700 Schedule: Rotating staggered start times (0730–0830) Additional Info: Bariatric Center of Excellence GYN Teaching Hospital We’re Looking For Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association Having 1-2 years of inpatient nursing med/surg ,ICU or ED. or periop experience What You’ll Do Deliver individualized care using the nursing process—assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans tailored to each patient’s needs. Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, mobilizing resources and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes. Promote patient safety by implementing risk-reduction strategies and reporting safety events promptly. Educate patients and families, adapting teaching methods to meet unique learning needs and supporting readiness for discharge. Coordinate care and discharge planning through an interdisciplinary approach, ensuring continuity across the healthcare continuum. Lead and delegate effectively, fostering teamwork and supporting unlicensed personnel. Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and unit performance. Maintain professional growth through ongoing education, competency completion, and participation in shared governance activities. Physical Requirements And Working Conditions Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions. Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines. Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed. May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical Abilities Testing may be required. Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
