Quality Engineer

Position Quality Engineer Location Canton, MI Job ID 341 # of Openings 1 Reports To Quality Manager Qualifications Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent Demonstrated Experience. Job Description Under direction of the Quality Manager, direct the plant’s quality management functions; provide guidance and direction for developing and improving systems, tools, personnel, and processes resulting in increased product quality and efficiency. Administer the company's quality program/system within the defined business operation of the organization. Scope includes internal and external quality. May have direct reports that implement and execute the policies and procedures of the business operations’ quality program/system. Essential Functions Ensure a high level of internal customer service. Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality. Maintain company quality standards. Work with program management on PPAP submissions. Training of quality staff, as needed. May supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity. Follow company policies, company safety policies and practice safe work habits. Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams. Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement teams. Design, develop and implement quality control training programs. Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures including Control Plans and Inspection Instructions. Participate in gage designs, APQP, and Engineering change activities to ensure outcomes/timelines are achieved on-time. Other Requirements Proficient in precision measuring tools and gages. Excellent knowledge of SPC, GD&T, Quality management systems, IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015. Strong communication skills, interface with internal and external customers. Strong leadership skills. Good presentation skills, both oral and written. Excellent computer skills, to include Microsoft applications and project software. Must be detail oriented. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. Must possess strong problem solving and analytical skills for Root Cause analysis and comprehensive customer 8D reports to Tier 1 Automotive customers as well as for internal scrap and defects.
