Industrial Engineer

Description The Industrial Engineer supports efficient, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing of electric motors by improving production processes, labor utilization, material flow, and quality performance. This role is hands‑on and plant‑focused, working closely with production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams in a small manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Industrial Process Engineering: Analyze production workflow to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), process maps, and work instructions. Support optimization of winding, stator/rotor assembly, balancing, impregnation, and testing operations. Conduct time studies, line balancing, and ergonomic assessments. Equipment and Manufacturing Support: Lead installation, commissioning, and validation of new machinery or automation lines. Troubleshoot equipment failures and coordinate with maintenance to resolve downtime issues. Ensure proper integration of automated systems with existing production processes. Quality and Compliance: Collaborate with Quality to ensure process capability, defect reduction, and scrap control. Contribute to root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA) for equipment‑or process‑related issues. Ensure all automation and electrical systems comply with safety standards. Preferred Experience or Skills Proficiency with PLC programming Experience with robotics (FANUC, ABB, etc.) or automated assembly cells. Familiarity with CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) for layouts and fixture design. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools. Knowledge of motor manufacturing processes is a plus (magnetization, winding, testing, etc.). Basic and Social Skills, Leadership, and Business Problem‑solving & Critical Thinking: Capable of analyzing complex manufacturing and design challenges, diagnosing root causes, and developing effective solutions Attention to Detail & Accuracy: Meticulous in interpreting and producing technical drawings, models, and documentation to ensure precision and consistency. Excellent Communication (Verbal and Written): Comfortable articulating technical concepts clearly across cross‑functional teams. Team Collaboration & Interpersonal Skills: Works seamlessly with production, quality, R&D, supply chain, and management teams—building trust, rapport, and shared success. Adaptability & Flexibility: Welcomes changing project requirements, evolving technologies, and dynamic manufacturing environments. Strategic Review: Conducts design reviews, risk assessments, and ensures compliance with internal and regulatory standards. Continuous Improvement & Lean Mindset: Implements process improvements, cost‑saving strategies, and waste reduction initiatives to boost production efficiency and output. Understands cost drivers in manufacturing (labor, scrap, downtime, throughput, materials). Aligns engineering decisions with company goals and operational strategy. Awareness of production scheduling, inventory impacts, and supply chain considerations. Empathy & Patience: Provide thoughtful, respectful support to users with varying technical skill levels. Professionalism: Represent the Industrial and Automation Engineer function with integrity, reliability, and confidentiality. Build trust with others through own authenticity and follow‑through on commitments. Values and supports diversity in the workplace. Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Requirements Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field. 2–5 years of experience preferred, ideally in motor manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, or similar discrete manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. Ability to occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist. Ability to spend extended time on the production shop floor in climate controlled and non‑controlled environments.
