Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active state license required Certifications: Required: BLS, ACLS; Preferred: PALS Must-Have: Teamwork, effective communication, experience with acute care patients Description: The unit consists of 48 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 during the night. Common diagnoses include pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic issues, surgical cases, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory illnesses. Candidates should demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills. Collaboration with Patient Care Technicians is essential to ensure quality care. RNs will monitor telemetry strips. RNs will not be required to titrate drips; however, troubleshooting for Bi-PAP and high-flow oxygen is expected. Shifts are from 7 AM to 7:30 PM and from 7:30 PM to 7 AM. Lunch breaks must occur within the first five hours of each shift. Weekend requirements may total four shifts within a six-week schedule. Every third holiday is expected to be worked. There may be floating to other units as needed. Staff must adhere to a solid color dress code, with no prints. Orientation typically consists of three shifts for new hires. Charting is conducted through an electronic system. Experience in acute care settings is preferred.
