We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a busy accounting team. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is well suited for someone who brings strong accuracy, sound judgment, and prior experience handling day-to-day payables tasks in a fast-moving environment. The person in this role will help keep invoice and payment activity organized, timely, and compliant while working closely with vendors and internal teams.

Responsibilities:

• Enter and process supplier invoices with a high level of accuracy and within established deadlines.

• Examine billing documents to confirm account coding, required approvals, and complete backup before payment is issued.

• Compare invoices against purchase orders and receiving records when needed to verify charges.

• Prepare payment batches and assist with timely disbursement to vendors through standard payment methods.

• Reconcile vendor account statements and investigate differences to ensure balances are correct.

• Communicate with vendors regarding invoice status, payment timing, and questions related to outstanding items.

• Maintain orderly accounts payable files and supporting documentation for easy retrieval and audit readiness.

• Support expense reimbursement review and help organize related payment records.

• Work with internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies and other invoice-related concerns.

• Provide general accounts payable assistance as priorities shift across the accounting function. 

• Previous experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role is preferred.
• Working knowledge of invoice review, coding, and payment processing practices.
• Ability to manage vendor communication professionally and follow through on open items.
• Basic to intermediate Excel skills for tracking, reviewing, and organizing financial information.
• Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on accuracy and completeness.
• Effective organizational and time-management skills in a deadline-driven setting.
• Ability to learn new accounting software quickly and perform assigned work independently.
