Description

Position Summary

The Tool Room Personnel is responsible for the overall management, organization, accountability, and maintenance of company tools, equipment, materials, and related inventory. This position ensures crews have the proper tools and equipment available when needed while maintaining accurate records, controlling inventory, and minimizing loss, damage, and unnecessary purchases.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the tool room and equipment inventory.
• Maintain accurate records of all tools, equipment, and materials issued, returned, transferred, or retired.
• Check tools and equipment in and out to employees and crews.
• Maintain accountability for company-owned tools and equipment.
• Inspect returned tools and equipment for damage, excessive wear, or missing components.
• Coordinate repairs, maintenance, calibration, and replacement of tools and equipment as needed.
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly cleaned, organized, labeled, and stored.
• Maintain sufficient inventory levels of commonly used tools, supplies, and equipment.
• Identify missing, damaged, obsolete, or excess equipment and report accordingly.
• Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, and field personnel regarding equipment needs and availability.
• Prepare tools and equipment for mobilization to job sites.
• Track equipment being transported between the shop, warehouse, and field locations.
• Assist with purchasing and obtaining replacement tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Verify deliveries and ensure received equipment matches purchase orders or requested materials.
• Maintain documentation for equipment transfers, repairs, inspections, and inventory adjustments.
• Ensure company tools and equipment are properly marked or identified.
• Assist with periodic inventory counts and audits.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized tool room and storage area.
• Ensure employees follow company procedures for tool and equipment issuance and return.
• Report significant losses, damaged equipment, or inventory discrepancies to management.
• Support field operations by helping ensure crews receive required tools and equipment in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
