The Office of Academic Scheduling and Instructional Space (OASIS) is a high-visibility, high-volume, deadline-sensitive operation that manages classroom scheduling, first‑year sectioning, exam scheduling, event scheduling, advising technologies, and related data analysis. OASIS schedules more than 25,000 course sections and 4,000 final exams per year. Posting Summary Rutgers is seeking a Data Visualization Specialist for OASIS. The specialist will build visualizations, analyze data, and provide business intelligence (BI) insights to inform decision‑making at Rutgers–New Brunswick. Responsibilities Work closely with data analysts and software developers, using analytical and reporting tools such as Tableau and web‑based applications, to develop and deliver data stories, analytics, and reporting solutions. Leverage Tableau to create streamlined, visually impactful dashboards that transform complex data into clear, actionable insights. Collaborate with OASIS data staff to optimize the processes for gathering, validating, manipulating, testing, and assessing course scheduling and related data. Support the implementation, launch, and operation of Infosilem’s exam and event scheduling modules, preparing data extracts and feeds for Tableau‑based dashboards. Maintain productive relationships with colleagues in the Office of the Chancellor, Office of Information Technology, University Registrar, academic units, and scheduling counterparts at the Rutgers University–Newark and Rutgers University–Camden campuses; contribute to a collegial, team‑oriented culture within OASIS. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least four years of relevant experience in a responsible higher‑education role with demonstrated responsibility for processes and outcomes relevant to this position. Proficiency with data analysis, business intelligence (BI), and database tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Access, and Excel. Experience in Python, SAS, and SQL for manipulating large data sets. Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify relationships and trends, and develop actionable recommendations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with tact and diplomacy. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications MBA or Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, analytics, engineering, computer science, or another technical and/or financial discipline. Experience with Big Data architecture and mining insights across various data sources. Technical knowledge for improving system performance, capacity, reliability and scalability of data visualization and reporting solutions. Strong presentation skills for communicating complex analyses to senior administrators. Familiarity with course scheduling, student registration, and related university information systems such as Infosilem.
