Position Overview

The nurse will provide care across:

• Labor & Delivery (L&D)
• Postpartum
• Newborn Nursery
• NICU feeder-grower infants (if experienced)

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of:
  • Labor & Delivery
  • Recovery
  • Postpartum nursing
• Recent EPIC experience preferred/required
• ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program
• Must be willing and able to assist with NICU feeder-growers

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Nebraska RN license or multistate compact RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NRP

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Labor management and delivery support
• Vaginal deliveries
• Vacuum-assisted deliveries
• Forceps-assisted deliveries
• External cephalic versions
• Cesarean deliveries
• Postpartum mother care
• Newborn care and assessments
• Newborn hearing screenings
• Stabilization of newborns when needed

Unit Details

Labor & Delivery

• 2 triage rooms
• 3 labor rooms
• 2 pre-op/post-op rooms

Postpartum

• 8 beds

NICU

• 8 beds

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

• Laboring patients: 1:1
• Antepartum: 1:3
• Postpartum: 1:3 couplets
• NICU feeder-growers: 1:3

Equipment Used

• Electronic Fetal Monitoring/Central Monitoring
• Ultrasound equipment
• Giraffe Infant Warmer
• Panda Infant Warmer
• Plum IV pumps
• Pneumatic leg pumps

Schedule

• 36 hours/week
• 12-hour shifts
  • Nights: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Some weekends and holidays required
• Will serve as the second experienced labor nurse in-house (never working alone)
