Practice Group Data Manager

About the Role The Practice Group Data Manager – M&A is an integral part of Latham’s Technology and Information Services team. This role will set the vision, roadmap, and own the strategy, governance, and day‑to‑day operations for M&A data initiatives. Responsibilities include collecting business and stakeholder requirements, translating them into user stories and acceptance criteria, and managing a transparent product backlog. The role is located in our Global Services office in Downtown Los Angeles and may support a flexible hybrid work schedule. Responsibilities Develop roadmaps that demonstrate long‑term product vision, features, scope, and priorities, and communicate product releases. Collaborate with technology development and QA teams to ensure production and quality control of internal practice group and client‑facing data outputs. Act as the primary liaison between M&A and the Technology, BD, KM, and Design teams to ensure alignment and visibility of timelines. Lead cross‑functional projects from initiation through delivery, creating project plans, managing dependencies, and tracking milestones, risks, and issues. Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and proprietary information. Qualifications Demonstrate superior communication and executive presence; interface with partners and practice leaders, translate requirements, and tell compelling data stories. Experience owning a data/analytics product or program for a practice or business line, including roadmap management, stakeholder alignment, and adoption. Proficiency with analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and comfort working with large datasets and collaborating with BI/Data Engineering on pipelines and models. Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in project/program management, product ownership, or data/analytics roles. Minimum of three years of experience focused on M&A or transaction‑driven environments (law firm, investment bank, Big Four, or similar). Experience with data modeling, customization, and data conversion is preferred. A bachelor’s degree, preferably with an advanced degree such as MBA, JD, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CSM/CSPO, Pragmatic, data governance, or analytics credentials) are preferred. Benefits Healthcare, life and disability insurance. A generous 401(k) plan.
