Sr. AWS Data Engineer

DescriptionIn this role, you will enable the seamless movement of critical transactional data from source systems into enterprise analytics platforms. You will ensure data is trusted, well-governed, and optimized for large-scale insights. You will design and deliver scalable data pipelines and data products, collaborating across teams to support analytics, reporting, and emerging data use cases while contributing to engineering standards and best practices in a modern data ecosystem.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines and system integrations across multiple platformsBuild and optimize systems for data ingestion, transformation, and processing of large datasetsSupport the full data lifecycle—from acquisition and ingestion to delivering analytics-ready datasetsEnsure high-quality, reliable data solutions through testing, validation, and monitoring practicesPromote and follow best practices for version control, automated testing, and code qualityCollaborate with upstream and downstream teams to ensure data is well-modeled, governed, and accessibleParticipate in technical design discussions and contribute to solution architectureIdentify and resolve data quality issues, performance bottlenecks, and technical debtApply security standards and support risk mitigation during developmentCreate and maintain documentation for pipelines, data models, and processesCollaborate through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing with team membersProvide on-call support as neededSkillssnowflake, aws glue, data, data modelingAdditional Skills & QualificationsQualificationsBachelor’s degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 2–8 years of relevant experienceProven experience as an IT professional, preferably in data engineering or related fieldsStrong leadership, communication, and presentation skillsAdvanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilitiesStrong organizational and planning skills with attention to accuracy and confidentialityAbility to effectively communicate technical strategies and designs across all organizational levelsDemonstrated ability to collaborate in cross-functional environmentsRequired Technical SkillsExperience with data modeling techniques and various data structuresAbility to design and optimize data for analytics and data science use casesHands-on experience building and operating systems for data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large datasetsExperience with business intelligence and reporting toolsProven ability to build data products incrementally and integrate data from multiple sourcesJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Des Moines, IA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
