Tool Crib Attendant
The Tool Crib Attendant supports expanding production operations by managing the tool crib in a high-performance, safety-focused environment. This role ensures that all required tools and materials for craft personnel are available, properly maintained, and issued in a timely and accurate manner. The position is based in Kings Bay, GA, with potential project opportunities at additional locations across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Issue, receive, and track tools, equipment, and materials to authorized personnel in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain precise inventory records and perform regular audits and cycle counts to ensure stock accuracy.
- Inspect tools for damage, wear, and proper functionality before and after use, and remove unsafe tools from circulation.
- Clean, organize, and store tools and supplies in designated areas to maintain an orderly and efficient tool crib.
- Coordinate tool repairs, calibration, and replacements as needed to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
- Monitor inventory levels proactively and request replenishment to prevent shortages and work delays.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, site regulations, and proper tool handling procedures at all times.
- Assist employees in locating and selecting appropriate tools and equipment for specific tasks.
- Operate warehouse and tool crib equipment, such as forklifts, as needed in support of inventory movement and storage.
- Use inventory management systems and basic computer software to track transactions and maintain records.
- Support production operations by collaborating with warehouse, inventory, and craft teams to meet project schedules.
- Follow security protocols associated with working on or in support of naval base and shipyard environments.
Essential Skills
- Active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Previous experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or tool crib environments.
- Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and maintenance practices, particularly in industrial, shipyard, or marine settings.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills to manage tool and materials inventory accurately.
- Ability to use inventory management systems and basic computer software, including Microsoft Office.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in issuing, receiving, and tracking tools and materials.
- Good communication and customer service skills to effectively support craft personnel and internal customers.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move tools and materials as required by the role.
- Willingness to work overtime and adjust to off-shift schedules based on workload and project needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ideally 1+ years of experience in a shipyard, the Navy, or related marine industries such as submarines, carriers, or naval ships.
- Experience working in submarine or shipbuilding environments.
- Background in warehouse inventory, pick and pack, and order picking operations.
- Familiarity with tool crib operations and processes.
- Forklift experience or certification.
- Experience using Microsoft Office for basic documentation and reporting.
- Exposure to high-level government contract environments and associated security and compliance practices.
- Welding school training and field experience, including TIG and MIG welding, are considered a strong asset.

Work Environment
The primary work location is at Kings Bay Naval Base in Kings Bay, GA, with initial work starting in a production shop off base in St. Marys, GA, typically alongside a team of around 30 or more people. Team size may vary when moving between locations or while traveling for projects. The base shift runs from 06:00 to 14:30, and you will be expected to work overtime as needed and remain open to off-shift assignments based on workload. The environment is safety-driven and aligned with government and naval base standards, involving close coordination with production, warehouse, and marine operations. You will work with inventory management systems, warehouse equipment, and a variety of industrial tools and materials. The dress code requires work pants, a work-appropriate shirt, and proper welding and safety personal protective equipment (PPE); outside of PPE requirements, there is no strict formal dress code.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
