Drive innovation in consumer products, automotive, medical devices, and industrial components. Leverage your SolidWorks expertise and plastic engineering acumen to deliver high-impact solutions from concept to launch. Responsibilities - Design and develop plastic components and assemblies using advanced SolidWorks techniques (3D modeling, 2D drawings). - Create detailed engineering drawings incorporating GD&T, tolerances, and material specifications. - Conduct DFM for injection molding and related plastic processes to ensure manufacturability and performance. - Collaborate closely with tooling, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout design validation and product introduction. - Lead design reviews, feasibility studies, and FMEA risk assessments. - Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities. - Optimize designs for cost efficiency, weight reduction, and superior performance. - Ensure strict compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. - Partner with vendors and toolmakers for mold design input and production readiness. - Maintain and manage engineering documentation, BOMs, revision control, and design change requests. Required Skills and Experience - Proven mastery of SolidWorks (part, assembly, surface modeling, drafting). - Deep understanding of plastic materials selection (ABS, PP, PC, Nylon, etc.). - In-depth knowledge of injection molding processes, tooling concepts, and shrinkage factors. - Strong foundation in DFM/DFA guidelines for plastic parts. - Proficiency in tolerance analysis and GD&T standards. - Effective problem-solving and analytical skills. - Strong communication and cross-functional teamwork capabilities. - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or Product Design. - 12-18 years of experience in plastic component design for consumer, automotive, medical, or industrial products. Preferred Skills - Exposure to mold design basics and tool development cycles. - Experience in product validation, testing, and failure analysis. - Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter). - Insight into sustainable and recyclable plastic design.
