Special Education Teacher - High School

Position Summary


Flint Cultural Center Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our high school team. The ideal candidate is a student-centered educator who is committed to ensuring all students have access to rigorous instruction and the support necessary to achieve academic success. This position requires an individual who can develop and implement individualized supports while fostering an inclusive learning environment where students feel valued, challenged, and empowered.


Qualifications & Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement(s) appropriate for assigned caseload and grade levels.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, MARSE, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong work ethic.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance.
  • Ability to accept and apply feedback to improve performance.
  • Commitment to the school's goals, mission, and values.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Provide direct instruction and specialized support services to students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations, modifications, and inclusive instructional practices.
• Utilize data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet learning needs.
• Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff to support student success.
• Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, progress monitoring, and compliance documentation.
• Support development of academic, social-emotional, self-advocacy, and transition skills.
• Collaboratively implement and grow with fellow faculty and staff.
• Work with Cultural Center educators to support a cohesive, campus-wide culture focused on student success.
• Demonstrate professionalism, respect, confidentiality, and ethical conduct at all times.


Salary & Benefits

Salary is determined by the FCCA matrix. Candidates with successful prior teaching experience may be placed higher on the scale. Full health, dental, and vision benefits are included.
