TDS Proteins Cell Line Engineering Co-Op

Johnson & Johnson seeks a motivated co-op student to support cell line engineering and biotherapeutic protein expression research in mammalian CHO cell systems. The six-month role involves investigating cellular stress pathways, conducting molecular biology experiments, and collaborating with cross-functional scientific teams at the Spring House, Pennsylvania facility.

Responsibilities

• Investigate stress and secretory pathways in CHO cell hosts to identify protein expression bottlenecks
• Support cell line engineering studies to improve protein production, folding, and secretion
• Conduct laboratory experiments using aseptic cell culture and molecular biology techniques
• Perform experimental characterization using Western blot, RT-qPCR, digital PCR, and flow cytometry as applicable
• Analyze experimental results and communicate findings to internal and external collaborators

Requirements

• Completion of undergraduate freshman year and currently pursuing bachelor's, master's, or PhD in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related discipline
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher across all college coursework
• Hands-on experience with aseptic cell culture techniques required
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret experimental data
• Legally authorized to work in U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship needs
• Self-starter capable of independent work and effective collaboration on team goals
