Posting Overview Join the Department of Human Services as a Forensic Social Worker1 at Torrance State Hospital in Westmoreland County, PA. This role focuses on providing social service support to patients within the Psychiatric Forensic Center, helping them with assessment, counseling, and coordination across treatment teams. Responsibilities Patient Assessment: Evaluate social, emotional, and medical information to determine service needs. Counseling Support: Provide individual and group therapeutic guidance to help patients strengthen personal and social functioning. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work with treatment teams to develop and follow comprehensive care plans. Progress Documentation: Record patient responses and updates related to treatment goals. Family Communication: Maintain regular contact with families and outside parties to share progress information. Legal Coordination: Prepare and track court commitment documents and participate in related hearings. Work Schedule and Compensation Full‑time employment (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday) with a 30‑minute lunch break. Telework is not an option for this position. Annual salary range: $54,240.00 – $79,062.00. In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable. Qualifications Minimum of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work or social welfare; candidates within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree are considered. Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirements. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position. Legal and Eligibility Requirements Conditional offer of employment requires a medical examination and drug screening. This position falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act, which requires submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance.
