Position Overview
As a Resident Accounts Specialist, you’re responsible for following KPG accounts receivable policy, posting rent payments daily to the correct accounts, auditing ledgers, and overseeing the Customer Care line. You’ll play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate payment processing, supporting housing choice voucher administration, and helping the portfolio stay aligned with cash needs and owner priorities.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Post rent payments daily to the correct accounts and audit ledgers to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounts receivable policy
- Process all current month housing choice voucher payments by the 10th of each month
- Process all mid-month payments within 48 hours of receipt
- Review and process HAP contracts
- Review housing choice voucher and past resident collection reports to evaluate collections status, outstanding balances, and the effectiveness of collection policies and procedures
- Track abated units and work closely with the housing choice voucher specialist and site managers to minimize loss
- Prioritize the portfolio to ensure collection efforts drive maximum benefit and align with portfolio cash needs and owner priorities
- Oversee the Customer Care line to ensure calls are answered promptly and responses are timely and appropriate
- Ensure all calls are logged accurately on the tracker and partner with site teams, Regionals, and RVPs to drive follow-up through resolution
- Log conversations, emails, and other communications, maintaining organized documentation to support effective follow-up
- Take on other duties as assigned to support the Property Management team

Qualifications
You’ll be a strong match if you bring:
- High School diploma (or G.E.D.) required; accounting experience preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a related area
- Strong written, oral, and reading communication skills, with the ability to accurately obtain, interpret, and document information and instructions
- Independent leadership skills; supervisory or management experience is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office for Windows, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel
- A multitask-oriented, organized approach with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and take pride in your work
