The Catering Maître d’ supervises the service team at catered events, coordinates dining-room operations, welcomes guests, and ensures excellent customer service at weddings, banquets, corporate functions, private parties, and other special events.

responsibilities

• Event Coordination: Coordinate food service and dining arrangements before and during events.
• Staff Supervision: Lead and supervise servers, bartenders, bussers, and other catering staff.
• Guest Relations: Welcome guests, answer questions, accommodate special requests, and resolve complaints professionally.
• Food Service Management: Ensure food is served on time, presented properly, and meets service standards.
• Setup and Breakdown: Oversee table settings, linens, place settings, buffet stations, and event cleanup.
• Client Communication: Work with event planners, hosts, chefs, and catering managers to meet client expectations.
• Service Timing: Coordinate meal courses, speeches, toasts, and other activities with the event schedule.
• Quality Control: Maintain high standards of cleanliness, professionalism, food safety, and presentation.
• Problem Solving: Handle unexpected issues calmly and efficiently during events.
• Final Inspection: Ensure the venue is properly cleaned and all equipment is accounted for after service.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience in catering, hospitality, banquet service, or event management.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• Professional appearance and a courteous attitude.
• Knowledge of formal dining, buffet service, and banquet etiquette.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift service equipment as required.
• $30 per hour with minimum 5 yrs experience
