Supply Chain Manager

The Supply Chain Manager will act as an integral member of the Carson operations leadership team, creating value for Ducommun by leading overall direction and execution of supply chain function. Responsibilities include fulfilling all requirements to support cost, quality and delivery of material to fully achieve annual operating plan, customer service, optimal inventory turns, and risk mitigation. Our Performance Center in Carson, CA is the Engineered Products Group site for our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, and Radio Frequency (RF) product lines. Job Summary Directly lead Supply Chain function, including purchasing, planning, logistics and warehouse. Carries out full‑scope responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Establishes, implements and executes procedures and systems for all Supply Chain functions. Establish most effective organizational structure and staff responsibilities and provides for staff training and development. Lead sourcing and purchasing of electronic components, PCBA materials, semiconductor products, wire harnesses, and related system‑level electronic parts. Manage the procurement of all production and non‑production items consumed in the plant to achieve short‑ and long‑term business objectives. Production and Inventory planning to ensure annual operating plan, master schedule and on‑time customer deliveries are met. Procurement planning: assessment of procurement workflows, processes, systems/tools used, etc. to ensure output meets all performance requirements. Interface closely with all manufacturing support functions, including manufacturing engineering, customer service, production, and quality engineering. Understand the MRP/ERP functions with adherence to operating system integrity to drive integration into the manufacturing process. Manage and review inputs (SIOP, Cycle Counting, physical inventory, profit planning) and controls (Min/Max levels, lead times, etc.) of the ordering process to ensure that inventory levels (Purchase parts, WIP, Finished Goods, Consignment, In Transit, etc.) meet plant, division and plan inventory turns objectives. Analyzes forecast, MRP and cell schedule data to ensure the timely procurement of goods and services in support of customer needs. Identify potential suppliers of goods and services to support the growing needs of the business, develop operational strategies and establish beneficial relationships with selected suppliers. Maintain a corporate database of approved suppliers in conjunction with the Quality Department and ensure compliance with established quality standards. Establish and maintain metrics that measure the performance of the purchasing function and provide for continuous improvement. Manage a team of 15 – 18 direct reports spanning Supply Chain and Shipping & Receiving. Required Skills And Qualifications Great communication both in written and verbally Ability to use a computer in the performance of the essential duties, including creating reports and e‑mail correspondence. Demonstrated expertise of ERP and MRP systems is required. Experience in the use of engineering drawings and digital files for communicating customer product requirements to outsource fabrication suppliers. Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write detailed reports and correspondence using original and/or innovative techniques or style. Ability to speak effectively before individuals or large groups of customers, suppliers or other employees. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to communicate effectively. Annual baseline hearing test is required. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to handle demands associated with management position. Willing to travel as required to supplier locations, which may be up to 25–30% at times. Required Experience And Education Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related degree is required. Minimum of 5–7 years well‑rounded supply chain management experience in progressively senior positions with significant electronics procurement exposure. Strong understanding of PCBAs, semiconductors, electronic component availability, and associated supply chain challenges. Experience with ERP/MRP system. Work Environment & Safety Equipment Requirements Working conditions are: 60% office and 40% manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and hazardous substances. Hearing protection is required in designated areas. Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas. Fully enclosed shoes of solid, leather construction with a steel or composite toe cap (ANSI Z41 compliant) must be worn in all manufacturing areas, including the Shipping / Receiving areas.
