Speech Language Pathologist
10-month, full-time position. For the 2026-2027 school year
Provide comprehensive speech and language services to students, including assessment, therapy, and consultation. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and staff to support student success.
Professional Responsibilities
- Ethical and professional standards as set forth by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association
- Maintain ongoing caseload updates, including students in the Multi-Tiered Systems of Success process.
- Continue to stay current with best practices in education and speech-language pathology to maintain and improve professional levels of performance.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by building or district administration.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Determine and conduct appropriate assessments to complete a comprehensive speech and language evaluation to identify students with educationally relevant communication disorders as well as to inform instruction and intervention.
- Analyze assessment data to determine eligibility and develop treatment plans including IEP goals and objectives as appropriate.
- Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and participate in the IEP process.
Direct Services
- Provide direct therapy and implementation of treatment plans to students with a variety of communication disorders, including:
- language (receptive and expressive)
- articulation/phonology (speech sound disorders)
- fluency
- voice/resonance
- social language/pragmatics
- augmentative and alternative communication
- swallowing and feeding
- Gather and interpret data about individual students, as well as overall therapy program evaluation.
- Collaborate with students, parents, staff members, child study team members, other SLPs, Assistive Technology Facilitator and Feeding Field Leader, administration, professional learning community members and community members.
- Provide services to support the instructional program including whole group, small group, and individualized services at a school.
Consultation and Collaboration
- Utilize a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to identify and support students who are at-risk.
- Provide technical expertise, training, and guidance to parents/guardians, teachers, and non-certified personnel.
- Collaborate with the team to determine and implement appropriate accommodations, modifications, and behavior supports to ensure student success.
Data Collection and Analysis
- Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions.
- Meet federal and state timelines and mandates as well as local policies in performance of their duties. Activities may include Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, Medicaid billing, report writing, service logs, and treatment plan/therapy log development.
Minimum Requirements
- Professional Educator License with Speech - Language Pathologist Endorsement
- Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations - Licensure
- ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence and/or Clinical Fellowship
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel materials. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
