Legal Instruments Examiner

As a Legal Instruments Examiner in the Packers and Stockyards Division, you are responsible for independently reviewing and analyzing legal and financial instruments and supporting documents to determine whether a requested action complies with specific provisions of the Packers and Stockyards Act and regulations. Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

FOR THE GS-6 LEVEL:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-5 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Recognizing and resolving documentation inconsistencies and discrepancies in legal and financial documents submitted for review and making determinations regarding conflicts. Using Microsoft Office software to create letters of acceptance, correction notifications, written guidance, and other official communication. Applying standard operating office procedures in reviewing submissions to ensure compliance. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.

FOR THE GS-7 LEVEL:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-6 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Performing detailed final audits and assembly of files of persons and firms subject to Federal Acts to ascertain whether there has been full compliance. Using office productivity software to create letters of acknowledgment, notifications, annual report forms, written guidance, and other official communication. Applying regulatory knowledge of various Federal Acts in reviewing submissions to ensure compliance with appropriate guidance and codified regulations. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.
