Registered Nurse

Location: Washington, DC Schedule: Full-Time Salary: $120,000 - $165,000 annually DOE Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer Summary Seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to oversee nursing operations within an inpatient behavioral health setting. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the coordinated delivery of patient care, supervising nursing and mental health staff, supporting staff development initiatives, maintaining regulatory compliance, and partnering with hospital leadership to promote quality patient outcomes. The Nurse Manager will provide direct oversight of House Supervisors, RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and Mental Health Technicians while supporting performance improvement initiatives, treatment planning, risk management, and staff education. Responsibilities Supervise and support nursing staff, House Supervisors, and Mental Health Technicians. Monitor staffing needs and coordinate appropriate nursing coverage. Assist with development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing education and training programs. Participate in treatment team meetings and interdisciplinary care planning. Develop, implement, and oversee nursing care plans for behavioral health patients. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, OSHA, state, federal, and hospital regulatory requirements. Lead staff development initiatives, competency training, and ongoing education programs. Support implementation of new clinical programs and workflow improvements. Coordinate student clinical experiences and educational partnerships. Monitor unit operations and maintain a safe, therapeutic treatment environment. Process incident reports, conduct investigations, and implement corrective action plans. Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and risk management standards. Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff. Collaborate with hospital leadership and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and operational effectiveness. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Current DC Registered Nurse License CPR or BLS Certification 3-5+ years of nursing leadership experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting Strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing practices and standards Experience supervising and developing nursing staff Knowledge of Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS/HCFA, and state regulatory requirements Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred: Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) 5+ years of behavioral health nursing leadership experience Leadership Experience Staff supervision and performance management Employee development and coaching Training and competency oversight Scheduling and staffing management Quality improvement initiatives Risk management and incident review Regulatory compliance oversight Technology Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Cerner UKG Ideal Background Looking for a behavioral health nursing leader with experience managing inpatient psychiatric units, developing nursing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating treatment planning, and maintaining a therapeutic patient care environment.
