Insulator

This role focuses on preparing and insulating commercial construction projects using a variety of insulation methods and materials. You will handle extensive prep and cleanup work, including scraping excess insulation from joists and trusses, and support the installation of thermal and spray foam insulation, as well as air and vapor barriers. The position offers hands-on training, the opportunity to learn multiple construction skills, and a clear path for growth within the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Perform prep work on job sites to ready areas for insulation and waterproofing, including organizing materials, setting up equipment, and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Scrape and remove excess insulation from joists, trusses, and other structural components to ensure clean, even application and proper finish.
  • Assist in installing blown-in insulation, spray foam insulation, and air or vapor barrier systems according to project specifications and safety standards.
  • Operate basic hand tools such as hammers, drills, and other construction tools to support insulation and general construction tasks.
  • Work with hoses connected to 55-gallon drums of spray foam insulation, ensuring proper setup, handling, and cleanup after use.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including the consistent use of a respirator and other protective equipment while handling insulation materials.
  • Support general construction activities such as framing, rough and finish carpentry, caulking, painting, and basic installation tasks as needed.
  • Read or follow directions based on blueprints or supervisor instructions to ensure accurate placement and installation of insulation materials.
  • Collaborate with the supervisor and crew members to complete projects efficiently, communicate progress, and address issues or obstacles on site.
  • Maintain an organized work environment, manage tools and materials responsibly, and assist with end-of-day cleanup and job site readiness for the next shift.
  • Work safely at various heights on ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms while installing insulation or performing related tasks.
  • Travel to different job sites, including hospitals, schools, universities, office buildings, and stadiums, and represent the company professionally.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of construction experience in areas such as carpentry, concrete, insulation, or remediation work (excluding landscaping).
  • Experience using basic hand tools, including hammers, drills, and other common construction tools.
  • Ability to work safely at different heights on ladders, scaffolding, or elevated structures.
  • Valid driver's license to travel to and from various job sites.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform clean, precise prep and insulation work.
  • Good organizational skills to manage tools, materials, and tasks efficiently on active construction sites.
  • Willingness and physical ability to perform labor-intensive work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols, including proper use of respirators and protective equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in carpentry, framing, roofing, or insulation work.
  • Experience with commercial construction projects such as hospitals, schools, universities, office buildings, or stadiums.
  • Familiarity with rough and finish carpentry, drywall, flooring, tile, and general installation work.
  • Experience with power tools and equipment commonly used in construction and insulation.
  • Exposure to reading or working from blueprints under supervision.
  • Knowledge of caulking, painting, and finishing techniques in a construction environment.
  • Interest in developing into leadership roles such as foreman or superintendent over time.
  • Motivation to learn new techniques in thermal insulation, spray foam application, and air or vapor barrier installation.
Why Work Here?

You will join a team that values long-term growth, strong customer relationships, and high-quality workmanship. The company invests in top-tier equipment and provides a robust support system to help you learn and advance your skills. Travel time from the shop to job sites is paid, and overnight stays include hotel coverage and a daily per diem. You will work with colleagues who enjoy problem-solving and are committed to teaching, creating an environment where aspiring learners can build a lasting career.

Work Environment

You will work on vacant commercial job sites that are under renovation or being built from the ground up, including hospitals, schools, universities, office buildings, and stadiums. Crews typically consist of a supervisor and 3–4 team members, fostering close collaboration and on-the-job learning. The role involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, and spray foam systems connected to 55-gallon drums. You will be required to wear a respirator while working with spray foam insulation, even though the materials are non-toxic and not considered a health threat when handled properly. Work is hands-on, physically demanding, and performed in active construction environments, which may include working at heights and in varying weather or building conditions. Travel between the shop and different job sites is a routine part of the role, and some projects may require overnight stays.
