Engineering Technician V

Job Title Engineering Technician V Job Description This is a waterfront shipboard construction and re-modernization position, working within shipyards and drydocks aboard U.S. Naval ships. The incumbent will be working in varying temperatures of high heat in the summer and cold in the winter preforming the following tasks: Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs and tests electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment and related devices. Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in order to put equipment in operational condition and solve complex problems. Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions using specialized test and diagnostic equipment. Modifies circuitry to improve performance. Makes recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems. Provides operation and maintenance instruction to customer personnel. Prepares operating and malfunction reports and related documentation. Works with engineering staff to determine and solve equipment design problems. Performs quality assurance testing of assemblies and equipment fabricated by other technicians. Provides work leadership to less-experienced technicians, and may have supervisory responsibility. Participates in special projects, as required. Certifications Cableway Certified, Connector Certified Modular, COAX, Multi-Pin, Connector Fabricator and Inspector, Connector Trained and Qualified with 40 hours OJT. Fiber Optic Cable Handling, Pulling, Forming/Shaping, BOF, Single/Multi, Optical Testing, Fusion Splicing Supervisor & QA, BOF Licensed Installer. WAF Tagout qualified. Requirements Education: Associates of Arts/Associates of Science. Required Experience: 8+ years of related experience. Security Clearance Level: None. Location: Customer Site.
