Documents Needed to Apply Resume Cover letter Purpose of Position This position will assist in the budget process by analyzing financial information required to produce an annual operating budget. This position will also be responsible for the application of budget analysis techniques and development of executive level reports to support annual operating budget, strategic, and operational planning. Essential Functions Analyze position funding and budget, expenditures, and variances. Track expenses and revenues vs budget. Evaluate profit and cost efficiencies in various areas of the university. Participate in the creation and assist with development of the annual operating budget. Provide guidance and support to all departmental personnel during annual budget preparation. Communicate budget processes and procedures to departments and provide problem-solving assistance throughout the year. Manage records, spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to effectively document and monitor budgets as assigned. Review financial transactions and compare against plans and forecasts to aid business administrators making business decisions. Prepare routine financial reports to inform senior leadership of the status of funds and variance to budget. Communicate with departments regarding any budget and/or position variances. Identify opportunities for process improvement needs and initiate actions in collaboration with senior leadership. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting and four (4) years of experience or eight (8) years of equivalent combination of experience and education. Preferred Qualifications Experience with fund accounting in university finance or accounting. Experience in PeopleSoft Finance and Oracle Enterprise Management (EPM). Experience with State Comptroller's accounting system (USAS). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent accounting research skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the organization. Excellent time management skills. Ability to work independently Work Schedule Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm Hybrid work environment (remote & in-office) Working Conditions May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
