MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Medical DirectorThe Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Medical Director for the Elgin Mental Health Center located in Elgin, Illinois. Serves as the Facility Medical Director with full responsibility for the administration of medical/clinical and psychiatric care services provided by licensed medical staff. Plans, develops, administers, and evaluates medical/clinical and psychiatric service care programs and services and the establishment and measurement of standards for services provided to patients, including Radiology, Electroencephalogram/Electrocardiogram (EEG/EKG), Laboratory and contracted clinical services. Plans, administers, and evaluates the development and implementation of policies and directives and the recruitment and retention of medical staff personnel. Serves as an active high-ranking member of key facility management and treatment committees including the Hospital Executive Committee. Serves as a full line supervisor to lower-level staff.Essential FunctionsServes as the Facility Medical Director with full responsibility for the administration of medical/clinical and psychiatric care services provided by licensed medical staff.Serves as full-line supervisor.Plans, administers, and evaluates the development and implementation of policies and directives and the recruitment and retention of medical staff personnel.Serves as an active high-ranking member of key facility management and treatment committees including the Hospital Executive Committee.Consults and confers with a variety of outside sources on behalf of the facility and patients such as other medical facilities, Coroner's Office, other local, city and state agencies.Serves as Chairperson of the Facility Medical Staff Organization.Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.Minimum QualificationsRequires a valid State of Illinois Physician and Surgeon License.Requires an American Board Certification in the job-related medical specialty of psychiatry.Requires three (3) years of substantive medical administrative experience in the directing, planning and evaluating a medical/clinical program.Preferred QualificationsTwo (2) years of professional experience working with professional health services, disciplines and program support functions which must be coordinated in administering a comprehensive medical health program.Two (2) years of professional experience managing and evaluating the delivery of medical care, treatment and services and investigating and reporting on incidents.Two (2) years of professional experience supervising staff in the medical field as well as other medical professionals.Two (2) years of professional experience recommending changes to medical service programs and working with concepts and practices in psychiatry medicine.Two (2) years of professional experience providing technical medical training and assistance to internal and/or external stakeholders, communicating with both internal and/or external stakeholders daily on medical services.Two (2) years of professional experience performing quality assurance assessments on medical services and treatments provided to patients and/or individuals.Conditions of EmploymentRequires ability to pass the IDHS background check.Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.Requires the possession of a valid Illinois Controlled Substance License.Requires the possession of a valid United States Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate of Registration.Requires the ability to meet the requirements of and be appointed to the medical staff association of Elgin Mental Health Center within 30 days of employment.Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.Requires the ability to walk and stand for a significant period of time, including stooping, bending, lifting or exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.Requires the ability to participate in patient management interventions that may include participating in restraint interventions.Requires the ability to maintain current Basic Life Support Certification.Requires the ability to testify in court.Requires the ability to serve as Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) after business hours, weekends and holidays in case of emergency.Work Hours: Mon - Fri, 8:00am - 4:00pm; 30-minute unpaid lunchMedical Director's Office Headquarter Location: 750 S State St, Elgin, Illinois, 60123Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery Elgin Mental Health Center Administration Work County: KaneAgency Contact: View email address on click.appcast.io Group: Health Services; Social ServicesAbout the Agency: The Illinois Department of Human Services uplifts individuals and communities across Illinois.
