Nurse Practitioner Hospitalist

Missouri Baptist Medical Center Hospitalists are medical physicians who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients. They are located on the campus located in Town & Country, MO.

The Nurse Practitioner (Hospitalist) utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill, and competence to deliver inpatient care in a hospital setting. This position assesses, diagnoses, and initiates a patient care treatment plan within the scope of a formal physician collaborative practice agreement. In this position, patient care is performed with considerable independence, guided by physician-approved protocols, and evaluated through chart review, consultations, and the observation of results under the general medical direction of their collaborating Hospitalist physician.

Responsibilities include participating in professional development, managing the health care of patient populations through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician. The care of patient populations is coordinated to ensure promotion of health and wellness through education of patients and families, coordination of services and placing referrals. Treatment plans are developed, and patients with acute problems including illnesses and minor injuries are treated following a predetermined protocol in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

Minimum Requirements include a Master's Degree in Nursing, less than 2 years of experience, and no supervisor experience. Licenses and certifications required include Nurse Practitioner and RN.

Preferred Requirements include a Doctorate in Nursing, 2-5 years of experience.
