CNC Lathe/Mill Supervisor

Job Description The CNC Lathe/Mill - Supervisor will manage, direct, and coordinate the overall production operations for the Lathe/Mill group. This includes 4 VMCs, 1 HMC, 9 lathes and a 5‑axis machine. The supervisor works directly with the operations manager and other department leaders, and runs jobs on the shop floor while managing other employees and their jobs. Responsibilities Ensure production personnel operate in compliance with company procedures. Achieve continuous improvement by increasing efficiency, reducing scrap, and meeting delivery requirements. Manage programming, delivery schedule, machine tool/operator utilization and daily production. Read blueprints and manuals to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces. Design and fabricate components. Operate CNC mills, manual mills, CNC lathes and manual lathes. Machine to close tolerance dimensions (+/- .001). Machine materials including aluminum, steel, stainless steel and plastics. Program FANUC, MORI SEIKI, YASNAC and HAAS controls via longhand and utilizing programming tools. Set up, align and operate CNC machines using tool changers with strong proficiency in G & M codes and working knowledge of CAD and engineering requirements. Manage and maintain tooling, ensuring proper inventory, good condition, and readiness for all assigned tasks. Plan and optimize workflow by effectively scheduling resources to complete projects on time and within budget. Provide technical support by answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and communicating with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth operations. Ensure compliance with safety standards and administrative responsibilities, including maintaining a safe work environment and accurate, timely submission of team timesheets. Required Experience CNC Machining: 7+ years Programming/CAD/CAM: 6+ years Read and interpretation of blueprints and tooling. GD&T knowledge is preferred Ability to set up and operate horizontal milling, vertical milling, and lathe turning centers: 7+ years Education and Experience Proficient knowledge of machining and cutting tools. Thorough understanding of measuring tools and gauging processes. Financial analysis tools (labor and overhead costing, justification, etc.). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and programming skills. Demonstrate strong CNC/CAM programming skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Exhibit excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Manage time effectively with strong organizational skills and perform efficiently in a fast‑paced, high‑demand environment. Work independently as well as collaboratively, while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and strong interpersonal skills.
