Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) with specialization in Medical Surgical and Telemetry (MS Telemetry) is needed in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position involves providing direct patient care within a Level I trauma teaching hospital equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a broad patient population. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of employment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend rotation, and no call requirement for travelers.
• Required Qualifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, valid NC Nursing license, with at least 2 years of Medical Surgical or Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and proficiency in managing chest tubes, NGT placements, drain/tube management (e.g., Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals), PCA pumps, and medication infusion management such as cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and intravenous fluids.
• Patient Types and Conditions: Patients with diagnoses including bladder cancer, prostatectomy, kidney stones, renal cancer, liver failure, acute kidney injury/chronic kidney disease, post-transplant patients, trauma cases involving chest tubes, spinal cord injuries, gunshot wounds, motor vehicle accidents, and traumatic falls.
• Hospital Support and Equipment: Support staff include CNA, charge nurse, receptionist/HUC, resource nurse, hospitalists, intensivists, and RT team available 24/7. Nurses will utilize EPIC electronic medical records, Alaris infusion pumps, Philips monitors, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems.
• Float Requirements: Floating within designated regions as needed, with payment for travel time if floating mid-shift. Regions include:
  • Region 1: Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
  • Region 2: Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Childrens Hospital)
  • Region 3: Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
• Orientation: Two days of departmental and facility orientation.
• Additional Information: Scrub color is navy. Parking is free. Travelers will work approximately 75% of holidays and have up to 6 days off approved, excluding holidays.
