Work under moderate supervision to prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements. Maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices. Qualifications:

Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Manual Trades - Nutrition Personnel. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; district vehicle, large and small kitchen equipment.
Posture: Standing, occasional sitting; walking, frequent bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, reaching, wrist turning, grasping, finger manipulation and twisting frequently. Must be able to use step ladder, sweep, mop, and clean equipment
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent reaching
Vision & Hearing: Moderate to Maximum
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds), if over 20 pounds must use a cart for transport and ask for assistance to lift case on/off cart
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; inside 95%; temperature -10o - 130o F

Primary Purpose:
Work under moderate supervision to prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements. Maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices. Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School graduate or GED preferred
- Must have or be able to obtain within 60 days, a State of Texas ANSI accredited Food Handler's Certification
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students and staff
- Ability to work cooperatively with students/staff/parents.
- Must be available to work until end of the scheduled shift
- Basic math skills
- None
- Assist cook in preparation of food for the day's menu, while maintaining established safety and sanitation procedures (including checking and maintaining food temperatures).
- Organize serving area and serve students and staff in a courteous manner, following established AISD and USDA/TDA guidelines.
- Maintain a high level of food quality. Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Know and follow all HACCP procedures and Health Department regulations.
- Aide in stocking, straightening, dating, rotating and inventorying of items in a storeroom, 40o F refrigerator and 0o F or below freezer.
- Cashier and perform record keeping responsibilities as assigned by manager.
- Serve food according to meal schedules, departmental policies, and procedures, and practice and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers.
- Store and handle food items and supplies safely and according to established procedures. Maintain a clean and organized storage area.
- Provide services for catering, as needed.
- Count and keep accurate records of food used.
- Assist in kitchen clean-up in accordance with work schedule.
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards, and follow established procedures. Maintain a clean and organized storage area.
- Keep work areas neat and sanitary.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to manager.
- Maintain personal appearance and hygiene.
- Must obtain minimum required annual Professional Standard training hours, per USDA regulations.
- Must attend required training, in-service and work related activities.
- Follow district and departmental policies and procedures as outlined in employee handbook.
- Is willing to work in various schools as needed.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned.
