Superintendent (Electrical)

Job Summary The Superintendent is responsible for supervising craft employees assigned to the Electrical construction discipline work area Essential Functions Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its \"Core Values.\" Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's \"Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.\" Plans and supervises work activities. Determines method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documents actual hours worked. Coordinates assigned work with different crafts, company departments and/or other contractors. Maintains liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedules. Assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues, as required. Conducts accident investigations with safety department, as required. Maintains communication with the HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower. Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements. Documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented. Maintains liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule. Conducts field safety audits, as required and maintains a complete understanding of Corporate Safety Manual and requirements. Performs additional responsibilities, as directed. Qualifications 6+ years' experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures; 1+ years' experience supervising craft employees. 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience. Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control. Ability to supervise large groups. Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance. Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Word and Excel. Physical Requirements Work includes field inspections and audits and the physical ability to conduct these field duties which require the following activities: Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project via turnstile access. Extensive walking in and around a construction site. Tasks at heights including climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, and working on uneven surfaces. Working in small or confined spaces. Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. fall protection harness, hard hat, etc.). Ability to be fit tested for and use a respirator. Must be able to perform work tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
