Electric Sit-Down Forklift OperatorThis role involves operating an electric sit-down forklift in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment that supports food production. You will spend the majority of your shift on the forklift, moving materials safely and efficiently, while also performing scanning, inventory, and shipping and receiving tasks to support smooth warehouse operations.ResponsibilitiesOperate an electric sit-down forklift for approximately 85%–95% of each shift to move materials throughout the manufacturing and warehouse facility.Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using the forklift and other material handling equipment as needed.Handle pallets and packages, including staging, organizing, and moving product in and out of storage locations.Utilize RF scanners to scan pallets and packages accurately, ensuring proper tracking and documentation of inventory.Work within a warehouse racking system that uses sliding 'Track Racks,' placing and retrieving pallets safely and precisely.Support shipping and receiving activities, including verifying counts, identifying product, and ensuring correct placement of materials.Assist with inventory tasks such as locating, picking, and organizing materials according to established procedures.Follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards at all times, maintaining cleanliness and adherence to safety and quality protocols.Comply with all site safety rules, including use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to dress code standards.Remain flexible to work additional hours after the regular shift, typically 1–2 hours, as business needs require.Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain efficient workflow and resolve any issues related to material handling or inventory.Essential SkillsAt least 1 year of experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.Proven ability to operate an electric sit-down forklift safely and efficiently for the majority of a work shift.Experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, picking, and moving pallets and packages.Ability to use RF scanners to scan pallets and packages accurately for inventory and tracking purposes.Working knowledge of inventory processes within a warehouse or manufacturing setting.Ability to work with warehouse racking systems, including sliding 'Track Racks,' and to place and retrieve pallets safely.Capability to support shipping and receiving functions, including handling inbound and outbound materials.Ability to comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards in a food manufacturing environment.Willingness and ability to work 10-hour shifts and stay 1–2 hours after the scheduled shift when needed.Availability to work Monday through Friday with most Saturdays and some Sundays as required.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious sit-down forklift operating experience in a food manufacturing environment is highly beneficial.Familiarity with non-climate-controlled warehouse or manufacturing facilities.Comfort working with track-based racking systems and high-volume material movement.Attention to detail when scanning and handling inventory to minimize errors.Strong awareness of safety practices related to forklift operation and material handling.Ability to follow strict GMP-related dress and hygiene standards, including use of hair nets and beard nets where applicable.Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
