Chinese Bilingual Outside Sales Associate

Established in 1926, Mutual Trading Co., Inc. was originally a small co-op organization for centralized purchasing of basic import foods to service the needs of the early Japanese immigrant society in Southern California. We've grown nearly 100 years now, and command a premiere position among Japanese foodservice suppliers, as well as fill a key role as "Culinary Ambassador" promoting Japanese foods worldwide. Currently, we import, manufacture, and distribute over 8,000 Japanese foods, beverages, restaurant equipment and supplies.

Hours: M-F: 9AM 6PM

Essential Job Functions

• Meets the monthly and annual sales target as designated by the sales manager.
• Visits customers to sell Company's products by providing customers all relevant information and supports.
• Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction by providing excellent service and building rapport.
• Responds to and communicates with all customers in a timely manner.
• Coordinates urgent deliveries with the customer to accommodate their needs.
• Educates customers on how the products or services can benefit them.
• Inputs and updates orders within the Company database accordingly
• Coordinates with the accounting department to assure the collection of payment in a timely manner.
• Maintains and safely navigates the Company vehicle as per the Company Vehicle Policy.
• Visits customers and potential customers to educate them on Japanese seafood items, including fresh fish and other seafood products; increases the sales of the Company's fresh seafood products.
• Works closely with all Sales Associates to understand their needs; offers solution by educating them and their clients on how our fresh seafood products and services can benefit their business.
• Trains, educates, and improves all sales associates' seafood knowledge.
• Participates in the weekly meetings.
• Attends Company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
• Other duties as required from manager.
• Obligation to answer to all management as requested.

Physical Requirements

• Able to travel for a majority of the daily working hours, including long hour driving
• Able to sit in a car for extended periods of time
• Able to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
• Able to use the phone for extended periods of time

• Location: Indoor in the office or at customer sites (restaurants, wholesalers, distributors, etc.), travelling

Other Requirements

• Business level English required Read/write/speak/listen
• Business level Chinese required Read/write/speak/listen
• Has a valid driver license and maintains a clean driving record
• Able to periodically stay overnight in out of town to visit clients
• Maintains a positive attitude
• Able to work independently and as a team
• Able to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload
• High School Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree or above preferred
• 2+ years of sales experience required; 5+ years of sales experience preferred front-of-house restaurant experiences are plus.

Knowledge and Skills

• Basic mathematical knowledge markups, discounts, combining/converting measurements, counting inventory, etc.
• Problem-solving skills
• Basic Microsoft Office proficiency
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Japanese foods, seafoods, and sakes
