Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. The unit is a high-volume, 64-bed facility, including dedicated areas for Triage, Acute Care, Super Track, Trauma, Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), and Psychiatric patients.

The ED provides comprehensive care to a diverse patient population ranging from newborns and pediatrics to adults and geriatrics, presenting with a wide array of critical conditions such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering expert emergency care and demonstrating proficiency across various patient acuities and specialized care areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for diverse populations (newborn, pediatric, adult, geriatric).
• Manage patients presenting with critical conditions including stroke, sepsis, trauma, MI, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
• Operate specialized equipment such as Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun.
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC EMR.
• Float to other units as required to support hospital needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
• Demonstrated experience with pediatric patients within an ED environment.
• Prior travel nursing experience is required.
• Proficiency in EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

Preferred Qualifications

• Charge Nurse capability highly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Clinical Skills: Advanced cardiac life support, basic life support, pediatric advanced life support, stroke assessment (NIHSS), trauma nursing care.
• Equipment Proficiency: Rapid Infusor, Arctic Sun.
• Soft Skills: Critical thinking, rapid assessment, effective communication, teamwork, adaptability, crisis management, strong organizational skills.

Licensing Requirements

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (required to be in hand).
• NURSYS report for license verification.
