ABOUT THE ROLE

The Respiratory Therapist provides in-home respiratory care and clinical support to patients with chronic respiratory conditions and respiratory equipment needs. This position is responsible for patient assessment, treatment, education, equipment support, follow-up, and care coordination to promote safe and effective care in the home setting.

This is a part-time, field-based position. Hours and responsibilities may increase over time based on patient volume, business needs, and performance.

The Respiratory Therapist works collaboratively with patients, caregivers, physicians, nurses, case managers, and other members of the care team. The position requires regular travel to patient homes, as well as completion of clinical documentation and care coordination activities.

WHAT YOU’ll DO

• Provide in-home respiratory assessments, treatment, and follow-up care for patients with COPD, asthma, CHF, ventilator or tracheostomy needs, and other chronic respiratory conditions.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding respiratory equipment, oxygen safety, treatment plans, and strategies to support effective care in the home.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, case managers, family members, and other members of the care team.
• Support safe transitions from hospital or facility settings to the home.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition or care needs to the appropriate members of the care team.
• Support physician-directed plans of care and respiratory treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory equipment education, setup, troubleshooting, and support as appropriate to the patient's needs and scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
• Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, referral partners, and community providers.
• Work independently in the field while maintaining communication and collaboration with the broader clinical and operational teams.
• Participate in activities that support patient care and the development of services within the local market.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT YOU’ll BRING

• Current Respiratory Therapist license (RRT or CRT) and BLS certification required.
• Must hold and maintain all licenses, certifications, and registrations required by the state(s) in which the employee provides patient care.
• Previous experience in home health, home care, subacute care, pulmonary rehabilitation, DME, or a related setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of respiratory equipment, patient education, and chronic respiratory disease management.
• Understanding of applicable insurance requirements, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
• Ability to work independently in a field-based environment while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with the care team.
• Strong communication, organization, clinical judgment, and patient education skills.
• Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area and manage a field-based schedule.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable clinical, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
