This position will oversee day-to-day land management operations, including field staff coordination, active contract execution, scheduling, equipment and chemical logistics, client communication, billing coordination, and support for pricing and competitive bids.
The Land Management Supervisor will help ensure that invasive and exotic vegetation control projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements, client expectations, and applicable environmental regulations. Most of the work involves the eradication and control of exotic plant species through chemical and/or mechanical methods in upland, wetland, aquatic, and right-of-way environments.
This is a field-forward supervisory role for someone who can lead crews, solve problems, communicate clearly, and keep projects moving. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, safety-minded, and comfortable balancing field operations, staff direction, client needs, and internal coordination.
Primary Responsibilities- Oversee land management field staff assigned to the Tampa Office and West Coast Florida service area.
- Coordinate and support the execution of active land management contracts, including recurring maintenance, invasive species control, and project-based field work.
- Schedule field crews, assign work, relay project information to junior staff, and help ensure crews are prepared with the proper equipment, chemicals, maps, work orders, and project instructions.
- Monitor project progress and communicate updates, needs, issues, and schedule impacts to senior staff.
- Serve as a client-facing contact for assigned land management work, including communicating with clients, addressing field conditions, and helping keep projects compliant and moving forward.
- Support pricing, estimating, and competitive bids for land management contracts, including input on labor, equipment, chemical needs, production assumptions, and field logistics.
- Coordinate billing information for completed land management events and provide required details to support timely and accurate invoicing.
- Oversee herbicide application activities and help ensure proper chemical acquisition, storage, handling, use, and documentation.
- Support compliance with environmental permits, contract requirements, safety protocols, herbicide labels, and applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
- Operate, coordinate, and help maintain land management equipment, vehicles, trailers, spray equipment, and other field tools as needed.
- Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to field staff, including expectations for safety, production, documentation, equipment use, and professional conduct.
- Assist with field documentation, project notes, photographs, treatment records, and other reporting needs.
- Identify field issues and develop practical solutions in coordination with senior staff, clients, and project teams.
- Supervisory or crew lead experience in land management, environmental field services, vegetation management, landscape operations, construction, utilities, or a related field is preferred.
- Land management, invasive species control, aquatic vegetation control, natural areas management, right-of-way vegetation control, or habitat restoration experience is preferred.
- Florida herbicide applicator licensing is preferred. If not already licensed, the selected candidate will be required to obtain the required applicator license(s) within 3 months of hire.
- Experience with small and large equipment is preferred, including skid steers, excavators, airboats, spray equipment, trucks, trailers, pumps, and related field equipment.
- Ability to read maps, follow work orders, understand project limits, document field activities, and communicate project status clearly.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in Florida field conditions and support physically demanding field work as needed.
- Clean driving record required.
The successful candidate should be a hands-on supervisor who is comfortable working in the field while also managing the coordination needed to keep projects organized. This role requires someone who can take ownership of daily operations, anticipate problems, communicate clearly with staff and clients, and make practical decisions in changing field conditions.
This position is well suited for a strong lead technician ready to step into a formal supervisory role, or an experienced field supervisor with land management, vegetation management, environmental restoration, or related operations experience.
