Pennsylvania Hospital is currently seeking a Telemetry Tech. Responsible for monitoring and interpreting rhythms per unit standard and notifying appropriate health care personnel of changes in rate or rhythm.

Some clinical duties include:

• Demonstrates correct utilization of all monitor alarms and central station controls.
• Correctly interprets rhythms and recognizes changes in rate or rhythm and notifies appropriate health care personnel.
• Recognizes all lethal arrhythmias and initiates the proper chain of alert.
• Delivers an accurate, concise individualized arrhythmia summary at the end of each shift.
• Documents rhythm strips per unit standard.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service based on physical, psychosocial, education, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age.

Responsibilities:

• Must be able to communicate with patients, families, visitors, nursing staff and other disciplines. Ability to concentrate on narrow visual field for extended period of time. Ability to absorb and retain verbal reports. Clear eyesight 2-4 feet. Able to clearly hear alarms, phones and overhead pages. Hand/eye coordination and hand dexterity.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

• High School Education or its equivalent.
• Completion of ECG or Telemetry Technician Training Course/ passed with 90% accuracy.

Additional Information:

• 4 Cathcart is a 41 bed medical-surgical unit that specializes in the care of patients with cardiac conditions and CHF. Many of the patients on are telemetry monitoring. The nurses are also responsible for caring for patients post- cardiac catheterization and some cardiac drips.
