PRN or Part-Time Emergency Veterinarian - Memphis Veterinary Specialists

Position Overview Join our team as a Part‑Time or PRN Emergency Veterinarian with predictable hours and a consistent home hospital assignment. Why Join Us Local autonomy with national support Career mobility and development opportunities A collaborative, inclusive environment where your wellbeing comes first Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups Communicate effectively with clients and educate them Conduct diagnostic procedures and surgeries as needed Maintain accurate medical records and pharmacy duties, including prescribing and controlled substance protocols Promote teamwork and staff efficiency Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations Evaluate and monitor hospital protocols from intake to discharge Attend daily rounds and ensure the highest standards of care Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels Perform other duties as assigned by Management Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) Current State Veterinary License DEA registration obtained and maintained 1+ years of experience in a veterinary emergency practice Strong diagnostic and clinical skills, and excellent surgical and dental skills Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to providing compassionate, high‑quality veterinary care Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds Physical ability to perform moderately demanding work, including climbing, stooping, and crouching Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Advanced clinical knowledge and assessment skills for various examination systems Problem‑solving and management of high‑quality veterinary hospital operations Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and staff Professionalism and constructive feedback culture Business acumen regarding veterinary hospital management and finances Understanding of ethical principles guiding patient care decisions Commitment to continuing education and facilitation of others’ learning Pay Range $900 – $1,500 USD per shift (Day Shift $1,200, Night Shift $1,500, Swing Shift $900) Benefits Signing and retention incentives up to $50,000 CE stipend Licensing and dues reimbursement 401(k) participation Team member pet discounts Emotional wellbeing support (Calm app access and 24/7 EAP) Supportive home hospital environment backed by national resources Location Memphis, TN – known for its vibrant culture and affordable lifestyle.
