Ironworker General Foreman Overview MasTec's Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group (CE&I) is a $2 billion annual revenue business unit that provides construction services for industrial facilities, building products manufacturers, power generation facilities, and solar, wind, and thermal energy plants. Position Summary The Ironworker General Foreman directs and supervises a crew in planning, layout, installation, and alignment of ironwork in accordance with plans, specifications, tolerances, industry standards, and codes. The foreman plans and coordinates the efforts of journeyman and craftsmen, motivates the crew to accomplish work safely, productively, correctly, and efficiently, and may collaborate with other crafts at the appropriate level of training and skills as requested by project supervision. Responsibilities Identify safety hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards. Understand and respond to all safety hazards and warning devices. Implement lockout/tag out procedures and 100% tie‑off/fall protection. Understand and train on the Mastec Safety Manual and policies. Ensure daily equipment inspections are performed. Follow the Mastec planning/JSA process, providing feedback and training. Perform additional safety practices: supervisor audits, craft observations, SLT meetings. Report all safety events and near misses. Read, understand, and follow contract plans and specifications. Inspect subordinate/crew work for compliance, point out deficiencies, and take corrective action. Ensure correct construction procedures and compliance with plans and specifications. Produce quality work meeting requirements of plans, specifications, and industry standards. Complete and submit quality paperwork and system sign‑offs. Understand assigned work and budgets and meet or beat budgeted man‑hours. Conduct gang box meetings, assign performance goals, and ensure crews are on schedule. Examine field conditions to identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost‑saving measures; take corrective actions. Follow the Mastec planning process for the current level. Perform job‑specific duties and maintain basic understanding of scheduling, material control, and productivity tracking. Perform essential craft functions under supervision. Lead task planning sessions for safe, efficient work. Listen to employee suggestions and safety concerns, evaluate, and implement action plans. Plan and communicate with warehouse and superintendent to secure adequate tools, materials, and equipment. Understand the scope of work and project plans, specifications, and schedules. Provide on‑the‑job training for supervised individuals. Understand and follow applicable employee laws and Mastec HR policies. Complete performance reviews of journeyman and craft workers. Review JSAs daily and coach the crew. Maintain a good attitude toward work and colleagues. Perform additional job‑related duties as requested by supervisor. Prepare weekly one‑week schedule and review crew timecards. Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements: 4+ years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. NCCER Certification/License (preferred). Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Knowledge of MSC Health and Safety programs and project‑specific regulations. Active participation in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors. Set a personal example of safe behavior. Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Perform basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and units conversion. Understand written or oral instructions and follow procedures with precision. Work within precise standards and accuracy. Maintain strong interpersonal relations with team members and supervisor. Keen common sense and problem‑solving skills. Physical Demands Work up to a 12‑hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions. Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb. Stamina for repetitive tasks over several hour intervals. Work in uncontrolled environmental conditions: changing weather, dust, fumes, smoke, odors, and loud noises. Wear personal protective equipment (safety shoes, gloves, glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.). Navigate confined, cluttered, uneven areas. Work at heights and comply with all safety and fall‑protection requirements. Maintain visual and auditory acuity; coordinate use of eyes, hands, and feet. Hours This is a full‑time position, typically 50 hours per week. Schedule is subject to project requirements. Travel Up to 90% travel required; presence directly on the project site is required with intermittent travel to residence of record.
