Job Title: Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description
This role is critical to the successful completion of infrastructure and lighting projects across Florida and the southeastern United States. You will operate heavy equipment with precision, support field crews, and help maintain a safe, efficient, and productive job site. Responsibilities- Safely operate crane boom trucks and derrick/auger trucks to support installation and construction activities.
- Install pole lighting and high-mast lighting systems in environments such as airports, ports, sports stadiums, and other facilities.
- Perform equipment operating tasks related to electrical work, underground utilities, conduit, lighting, signage, concrete, and finish work as assigned.
- Drive company vehicles and equipment to and from job sites, ensuring compliance with all traffic and safety regulations.
- Work on utilities construction and underground utilities projects, following site plans and instructions from supervisors.
- Assist with electrical-related tasks connected to lighting and utilities installations, under appropriate guidance and standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around moving equipment, uneven terrain, and active construction zones.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors and crew members to coordinate daily tasks and project milestones.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times on job sites.
- Support concrete and finish work activities, including preparation and completion of surfaces as needed for lighting and utility installations.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining productivity and adherence to safety standards.
- Travel to job sites within Florida and occasionally to other states in the southeast, meeting at the office prior to departure when required.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts, including typical MondayThursday 10-hour days, with occasional Friday or Saturday work if required by the project.
- Demonstrate dependable attendance, strong work ethic, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting project deadlines.
- Prior experience operating a crane boom truck.
- Prior experience operating a derrick/auger truck.
- Ability to safely operate assigned heavy equipment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to install and work with pole lighting and high-mast lighting systems.
- Experience working with electrical, lighting, conduit, utilities, and signage in a construction environment.
- Proficiency in equipment operation, including cranes, boom lifts, and augers.
- Valid drivers license and ability to drive company vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members.
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to work safely around moving equipment, uneven terrain, and active construction environments.
- Ability to wear and properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Experience installing pole lighting in airports, ports, and sports stadiums.
- Experience working on airfield systems and related infrastructure.
- Proficiency and understanding of Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPI).
- Familiarity with Very High Frequency (VHF) omni-directional range systems (VORs).
- Experience with utilities construction and underground utilities projects.
- Background in concrete work and finish work in a construction setting.
- Crane certification preferred but not required.
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred for certain positions.
- Experience with electrical work related to lighting and utilities.
- Comfort working with new construction sites and existing facilities undergoing upgrades.
- Willingness to travel within Florida and to various states in the southeastern United States as needed.

Work EnvironmentThis role is primarily based in outdoor environments, working on new construction sites and existing facilities that require upgrades to electrical and lighting systems. You will frequently work around moving equipment, uneven terrain, and active construction zones, following strict safety protocols and wearing appropriate PPE at all times. The typical schedule consists of MondayThursday 10-hour shifts, with occasional Friday or Saturday work if project needs require it. During travel weeks, crews meet at the office, travel to the job site on Monday, and return home after the last shift of the week, with weekend work being rare. Work takes place in all weather conditions, and you will use a range of equipment, including cranes, boom lifts, augers, and vehicles associated with utilities construction and underground utilities projects.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
