Registered Nurse (RN) - Corrections

We are seeking dedicated and experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Corrections Healthcare team for a 16-week contract assignment. This is an excellent opportunity to provide essential nursing care within a correctional setting while working alongside a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Start Date: September 16, 2026 Contract Length: 16 Weeks Hours: 40 Hours per Week

Available Shifts

Evening Shift

• Hours: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Night Shift

• Hours: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to incarcerated individuals.
• Conduct patient assessments and monitor health conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Perform blood draws, IV insertions, and collect laboratory specimens.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and healthcare staff.
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and healthcare standards.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted RN license in the applicable state.
• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric and/or behavioral health nursing experience required.
• Demonstrated experience with blood draws, IV insertion/management, and laboratory specimen collection required.
• Previous correctional nursing experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

The Correctional RN works in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, correctional officers, and administrators to ensure the well-being of the incarcerated population. The Correctional RN utilizes their knowledge to address the specific challenges and limitations of the correctional environment while providing care to their patient population. This care includes both routine and emergency health care in a correctional facility setting.

Minimum Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
• Minimum of one year of correctional health care experience preferred
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
