SALARY RANGE: BU13 | SR18 SALARY RATE: $56,700 - $80,736 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE JOB DUTIES: This position is located in the Business Office unit, Fiscal Services section of Kona Community Hospital, a 94 bed acute care facility located on the island of Hawaii, serving as the West Hawaii Regional Center, which also includes Kohala Hospital. It is one of 9 facilities within the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. The Business Office provides a variety of services which includes bookkeeping, budgetary control, billing and collections, and disbursements. This position performs a variety of assignments ranging from simple to moderately difficult professional accounting work within the Kona Community Hospital's fiscal management programs
A. General Accounting 1. Prepares worksheets, financial reports, exhibits, and statements.
2. Compiles and tabulates fiscal information.
3. Maintains ledgers and other fiscal records.
4. Reconcile daily cash deposit and posting of cash receipts for facility.
B. Marginal Functions
1. Attends meetings related to fiscal matters as required.
2. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
C. Other Responsibilities 1. Communicates and interacts with patients, families and other staff members in a positive and courteous manner.
2. Complies with mandatory inservice requirements, e.g., patient rights, crisis prevention, annual mandatory health and safety, etc.
3. Maintains the strictest confidentiality of all facility and facility related employee/ patient information. 4. Participates in activities of department, i.e. JCAHO, Safety, Performance Improvement, and Infection Control.
5. Adheres to hospital rules and regulations, and policies and procedures.
6. Considers age-specific needs when serving or assisting patients:

7. Is aware of pain management and considers when interacting and assisting patients.

10. Performs other related duties as assigned. THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week. Education : Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with at least 12 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects.
Experience: Six (6) months of progressively responsible professional accounting or auditing experience which may have included teaching accounting at the university level
Certification: none required.
Licensure: none required. DESIRED SKILLS Knowledge of: Principles and practices of accounting; report writing, preparation and analysis of financial statements and financial report writing Ability to: Learn to apply various accounting methods, techniques, and procedures; learn and apply pertinent laws, rules and regulations applicable to the assigned department; deal effectively with people; operate adding and calculating machines.
