Come work where you play—and help us inspire healthier, happier lives for everyone!Job DescriptionReporting to the ITS Infrastructure Manager, the ITS System Administrator II oversees the administration, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of JCPRD's technology infrastructure. This includes servers, networks, cloud services, storage systems, disaster recovery, access management, and surveillance technologies. The position works closely with external vendors to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable technology services that support the organization's operational needs and long-term goals.Core Competencies:Accountability – Follows-up on and meets commitments, takes ownership for work, and possesses a strong ability to stay focused on individual, department, and County results.Communication – Clearly and effectively expresses ideas and thoughts (verbally and in writing); effectively communicates strategies internally and externally; creates a culture to support strategies and provides mechanisms to implement them; fosters buy-in and enthusiasm with employees.Essential Duties:Organizational LeadershipLead the development of a high-performing organization by demonstrating the County's Pillars of Performance.Foster leadership and employee empowerment at all levels of the organization.Participate in Quality Improvement and Innovation (QII) activities for self and staff.Mentor, coach, and collaborate with employees to advance the County's mission and vision while supporting the shared goal of leaving the community better than we found it.Administrative AccountabilitySupport the JCPRD mission, vision, and organizational values.Develop, promote, and achieve departmental, divisional, and program goals and objectives.Ensure accountability for assigned responsibilities and organizational initiatives.Budget & Resource ManagementEffectively manage and utilize assigned resources to support departmental, divisional, and agency operations.Exercise sound judgment to maximize efficiency, minimize waste, and prevent operational issues.Ensure proper use, maintenance, and lifecycle management of equipment, technology, supplies, and materials.Manage assigned budget funds to achieve year-end financial expectations.Training & Professional DevelopmentComplete assigned training, professional development, and special projects.Maintain current knowledge of IT technologies, certifications, and industry best practices.Develop and deliver technical and end-user training on supported systems and applications.Enterprise Infrastructure AdministrationImplement, administer, and maintain enterprise infrastructure, including:VMware virtual infrastructure (vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, virtual machines, and host management)Physical Dell servers and EMC enterprise storage systemsVeeam, replication, and disaster recovery solutionsFiber optic network infrastructure, including connectivity, testing, and maintenanceEnterprise networking infrastructure, including Cisco switches, routing, VLANs, and network managementCisco wireless infrastructure, including access points and wireless controllersRADWIN point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless radio systemsWired, wireless, cellular, and microwave communication systemsGenetec Security Center, including video surveillance, door access control, and system administrationEnterprise video surveillance cameras and recording infrastructureDoor access control systems and associated hardwareLicense Plate Recognition (LPR) systemsOther enterprise technologiesEnsure the availability, reliability, performance, and security of mission-critical infrastructure.Infrastructure ProjectsLead the technical implementation of enterprise infrastructure projects.Plan and execute system deployments, upgrades, migrations, lifecycle replacements, and modernization initiatives.Install, configure, maintain, and decommission enterprise hardware, software, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and supporting technologies.Minimize operational disruption during infrastructure changes.Backup & Disaster RecoveryAdminister Veeam enterprise backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.Perform backup validation and routine disaster recovery testing.Execute system restoration activities to support business continuity.Continuously improve infrastructure resilience and recovery capabilities.Security & ComplianceImplement and maintain infrastructure security controls.Perform system hardening, security patching, and vulnerability remediation.Administer privileged access management and secure configuration standards.Ensure compliance with organizational policies and cybersecurity best practices.Technical Support & Incident ResponseServe as the senior technical resource for complex infrastructure issues.Troubleshoot advanced hardware, software, virtualization, storage, networking, and enterprise technology problems.Monitor infrastructure health and performance.Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.Participate in on-call support and incident response activities.Documentation & Process ImprovementDevelop and maintain technical documentation, including, but not limited to:System configurationsNetwork diagramsEquipment inventoriesDisaster recovery plansTechnical standardsIdentify and implement opportunities to improve automation, operational efficiency, system reliability, and infrastructure performance.Technical GuidanceProvide technical guidance System Administrator I staff and other technical personnel.Share technical expertise and support complex implementations.Develop operational documentation and training materials that promote consistency and operational excellence.Technology Planning & InnovationResearch, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies and infrastructure
