Join One of Massachusetts' Most Respected Self-Perform Civil Contractors A growing Massachusetts-based heavy civil and underground utility contractor is seeking an experienced Civil / Heavy Civil Estimator to play a key role in securing and pricing some of the region's most challenging infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity to join a field-driven contractor with a strong reputation across municipal, utility, and public-sector markets. You'll work directly with senior leadership and operations teams, helping shape project strategy before work ever reaches the field. If you understand the realities of underground utility construction, site development, excavation, and heavy civil operations—and know how to turn that knowledge into winning bids we would appreciate speaking with you. What You'll Be Responsible For Prepare detailed cost estimates for water, sewer, storm drainage, sitework, roadway, and heavy civil projects. Analyze plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents. Develop competitive bid strategies for public and private work. Quantity Takeoffs Perform accurate takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, structures, paving, and civil scopes. Evaluate production rates, crew requirements, and equipment utilization. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing. Build and maintain relationships with key vendors throughout New England. Preconstruction Support Participate in constructability reviews and risk assessments. Collaborate with operations teams to validate means, methods, and project execution plans. Cost Analysis Review historical cost data and production metrics. Identify opportunities to improve competitiveness and profitability. Strategic Planning Partner with ownership and senior leadership on pursuit strategy. Assist with backlog planning and long-term growth initiatives. What Makes You a Fit We're looking for someone who understands heavy civil construction from the ground up—not just someone who can operate estimating software. Strong experience estimating projects involving: Water mains Sewer systems Storm drainage Earthwork Roadway reconstruction Field Knowledge An understanding of production rates, equipment capabilities, labor planning, and real-world construction challenges. Public Sector Experience Experience bidding: Chapter 90 projects Utility authority contracts Publicly funded civil construction Technical Skills Experience with estimating software, takeoff platforms, and Microsoft Office. Team-Oriented Mindset Ability to work closely with project managers, superintendents, and field operations teams. Why Join?
