Production Assembler (1st Shift)

Location: San Antonio, TX 78233 Pay rate: $20.00 - $21.00/hr Work schedule: 1st Shift | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Overview

The Production Assembler is responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints and operational routings to construct mechanical parts and assemblies to exact technical specifications. Operating within a high-standard production environment, this role demands a strong commitment to quality control, regular component inspections, and safe machinery operation. The ideal candidate possesses strong manual dexterity, a focus on workplace safety, and the ability to maintain accurate production records while tracking inventory at their station.

Job Specifications

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Assembly: Read, interpret, and build from industrial blueprints and structural routings to produce finished parts matching required engineering tolerances and standards.
• Quality Assurance & Inspection: Take full ownership of the quality of all completed assemblies. Perform critical first-piece inspections alongside subsequent inline checks to identify and report product defects immediately.
• Tool & Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate functional area machinery and standard assembly hand tools, such as handheld screwdrivers and power drill guns.
• Data Log Maintenance: Maintain simple, timely, and accurate reports tracking daily productivity outputs, quality metrics, and safety variables.
• Workstation & Inventory Control: Maintain a continuous inventory of raw products and pieces at assigned workstations. Ensure routine tool maintenance is performed and keep the work area neat and clean.
• Safety Protocols & Hazard Reporting: Strictly follow all rules regarding machine operation, safety curtains, interlocks, and machine guarding. Promptly report any safety problems, equipment hazards, accidents, or near-misses to management.
• Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and independently resolve simple quality-related product issues on the floor to meet established standards.

Must Have Skills / Requirements

• Assembly Competency: 23 years of verifiable hands-on experience in an industrial or manufacturing assembly role.
• Manual Dexterity: Exceptional manual dexterity and physical coordination to piece small parts together accurately and perform repetitive tasks over long durations.
• Blueprint Literacy: Foundational ability to read, understand, and apply technical blueprints and routing documentation.
• Material Handling & Compliance: Solid understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and the proper procedures for handling hazardous materials safely.
• Operational Drive: A self-motivated individual who can work independently or collaborate productively within a team environment, backed by an essential history of regular, good attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior operational experience working with thermoforming machinery or thermoformed plastics is highly preferred.

Physical Demands & Environment

• Capability to routinely lift, move, or maneuver up to 35 pounds.
• Physical capability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, and reach above the shoulders for up to 25% of the standard shift duration.

Education & Experience

• Experience: 23 years of professional manufacturing assembly experience.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
