Utilizes the nursing process to make continuing assessments of the patient’s total health needs; implements nursing interventions based on assessment data; develops and implements the nursing plan of care and evaluates the patient’s response. Strives to provide excellent patient care with compassion, tact, cheerfulness, accuracy, patience, flexibility in scheduling, calmness in emergency, and ability to work well with team members, receiving and applying feedback from peers and superiors. Assists with orientation of new staff to the unit as requested.\nAll care is provided with kindness and compassion.\n \nKey Responsibilities \nQuality of Care and Nursing Process\n\n The nurse provides evidence-based care to prevent the development of a Healthcare Acquired Condition and hospital readmissions.\n The nurse practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials.\n\nAssessment: The nurse collects patient health data. \n\n Nursing assessments are completed according to hospital and unit specific policies, procedures, and standards of nursing care.\n Collects pertinent data from the patient, significant others, and health care providers.\n A comprehensive patient history and physical is completed in a timely manner and includes biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities, educational, age specific, cultural, and discharge planning needs.\n\nDiagnosis / Care Needs: The nurse analyzes the assessment data to identify care needs. \n\n Nursing diagnoses / care needs are derived from the assessment data.\n Involving the patient and significant other as appropriate, the nurse formulates a plan to provide appropriate care based on identified patient needs.\n\nImplementation: The patient’s nursing care is based on identified nursing diagnoses / care needs and patient care standards, and is consistent with the therapies of other disciplines.\n\n Nursing care is based on identified nursing diagnoses / care needs.\n Nursing care is based on standards of patient care.\n\nEvaluation: The nurse evaluates the patient’s progress towards attainment of desired outcomes. \n\n Evaluation of the patient’s response to nursing care is evident in the ongoing assessment data.\n Nursing diagnoses / care needs are revised based on reassessment data.\n\nClinical Lead:\n\n Coordination of Nursing Personnel \n Coordination of Patient Care Quality and Patient Satisfaction\n Coordination of Nursing Process and Compliance\n\n \nQualifications \nEducation: Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate of a Nursing Diploma program.\nCertification/Licensure:\n\n Current, valid Arizona RN license or compact state RN license\n Current BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross\n\nUnit Specific Requirements:\nMedical Surgical Units:\n\n Basic EKG competency within 3 months of hire. \n\nPediatrics:\n\n PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 6 months of hire \n\nIntensive Care Unit/ Progressive Care Unit: \n\n ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire\n Basic EKG competency within 30 days of hire\n\nWomen’s Services: \n\n NRP certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer\n ACLS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 3 months of hire/transfer\n S.T.A.B.L.E. required within 6 months of hire/transfer\n AWHONN Fetal Monitor Course:\n Basic course to be completed within 6 months of hire/transfer\n Intermediate course to be completed within 12 months of hire/transfer\n\nEmergency Department: \n\n ACLS and PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 3 months of hire \n Emergency Severity Index (ESI) training required within 6 months of hire\n TNCC required within 24 months of hire\n\nHemodialysis:\n\n ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross\n Basic ECG within 3 months of hire\n\nClinical Decision Unit:\n\n Basic EKG competency within 3 months of hire\n\nECHO:\n\n ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross\n Basic ECG competency within 30 days of hire. \n\nSurgical Services/Circulator\n\n ACLS and PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days of hire\n Basic EKG competency within 30 days of hire\n Minimum five (5) years of experience for incumbent hired into a full-time shift working a weekend, evening, or night shift \n Minimum one (1) year of experience in one or more of the following: Endo, Ortho, General, Urology, Robotics, Pulmonary or GYN, if hired into a seasonal position. \n Incumbents hired into a full-time shift for weekends or evenings will not have to take call\n\nSurgical Services/PACU/Outpatient:\n\n ACLS and PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days of hire.\n Minimum one year of experience in an acute care or med surg setting\n Basic EKG competency within 30 days of hire\n Minimum five (5) years of experience for incumbent hired into a full-time shift working a weekend, evening, or night shift \n Incumbent hired into a full-time shift and scheduled a weekend or evening shift will not have to take call\n\n \nCath Lab:\n\n ACLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire\n ECG competency upon hire\n Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse\n\nCardiology:\n\n Basic EKG competency within 30 days of hire\n\n \n \nClinical Lead:\nMaintains BLS/ACLS/PALS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross, TNCC, De-escalation techniques, NRP, Basic EKG, and ESI, as required, per RN position description for assigned area(s).\n \nPreferences \nEducation: Bachelor’s in nursing\nExperience: Experience working in respective clinical area is desired\nUnit Specific Preferences:\nMedical Surgical Units:\n\n Certified Medical-Surgical Nurse encouraged \n ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred\n\nPediatrics:\n\n One-year acute pediatric experience \n Certified Pediatric Nurse encouraged\n\nIntensive Care Unit/Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit: \n\n Certified Critical Care Nurse encouraged\n Cardiac Medicine Certified and/or Cardiac Surgery Certification encouraged for CVICU\n One-year PCU experience preferred\n\nProgressive Care Unit:\n\n Two years acute care experience\n Progressive Care Certified Nurse encouraged\n\nWomen’s Services: \n\n Two years of recent labor, delivery, post-partum, and newborn experience\n Inpatient Obstetrical Nursing Certification encouraged\n Lactation Nursing Certification encouraged\n\nEmergency Department: \n\n One-year Acute Med/Surg nursing\n CCRN or CEN potential hazard(s): possible exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals\n \nWork Requirements \n\n Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.\n Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.\n Able to manage technical business equipment i.e., phone, fax, computer etc.\n Able to assist with the movement of an adult patient weighing up to 300 lbs.\n Able to care for patients with infectious diseases.\n Able to sit for 3-5 hours per day; Able to stand for 3-5 hours per day; Able to walk for 3-5 hours day.\n
