Medical Assistant NephrologyProviding clinical and office assistance in the clinics of health care providers.Job duties include but are not limited to:Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room.Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies.Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answering questions.Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.Generates revenues by recording billing information of services rendered; completing insurance forms; responding to insurance and other third-party inquiries.Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential (HIPAA).Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Schedule appointmentAnswering phone for busy clinicRelay messages & critical lab values to the physicianReceive & document orders such as labs, imaging & prescriptionsPre-clinic chart preparationRequest and electronically file medical records from hospitals and referring clinicFax completed notes to referral sourcesWork & distribute incoming faxes dailyVitalize & Triage (includes documenting medications, past medical, surgical, family, & social history, entering current medications & drug allergies)Follow meaningful use guidelinesMaintain patient's privacy and follow HIPAA GuidelinesMust be able to travel to San Antonio clinic locations as neededMinimum RequirementsMedical Assistant Certification2 years Medical Assistant experienceE Clinical ExperienceValid Texas Driver's License in good standing/vehicle insurance coverageBi-Lingual (English/Spanish)Posting SpecificsWorking hours vary from clinic to clinic - Typical hours are 8:00 am-5:00 pm or 8:30 am-5:30 pm1-2 times a week some clinics may require your arrival as early as 7 am & others could end as late as 7 pm / flexibility is required.Full Time with benefits offered
