Senior Design Engineer

Standard Job Description Designs major components, or major portions of a functional system, or technically advanced prototype, promotional or specific products. Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 or equivalent CAD system is required Experience developing technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity Experience conducting research, creating basic design models and assist in design evaluations Experience using the application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing for manufacturing fit and function Desired Skills Experience in design of metallic and composite airframe structures Experienced in Drawing/Drafting skills Proficient in design of composite airframe structure and use of composite ply development tools such as CPD Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Proficient in Model Based Definition Proficient in Microsoft Office suite Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
