Strategic buyer

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Buyer to join a leading global organization within the commercial vehicle and transportation industry. This role offers an opportunity to influence sourcing strategy, build supplier partnerships, and deliver measurable value through cost optimization, market intelligence, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate brings 2-5 years of relevant strategic sourcing or purchasing experience, negotiation skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

salary: $40 - $47 per hour
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 5 PM

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute strategic sourcing initiatives within an assigned commodity or category, including cost-reduction programs and sourcing activities.
• Develop and implement commodity and segment strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Drive strategic purchasing activities, supplier selection, and sourcing decisions within the assigned area of responsibility.
• Establish and manage supplier relationship processes, performance objectives, and continuous improvement programs.
• Negotiate commercial agreements, contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers.
• Coordinate supplier integration and implementation plans in partnership with internal business stakeholders.
• Monitor market conditions, supply availability, pricing trends, and other external factors that may impact materials and services.
• Partner with internal clients to understand sourcing requirements and develop effective purchasing strategies.
• Build buyer and market profiles, identify marketplace trends, and help define appropriate service levels.

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or a related field
• Experience with supplier management, contract negotiation, sourcing strategies, or cost-reduction initiatives
• Ability to evaluate market dynamics and translate market information into purchasing strategies
• Experience in manufacturing, automotive, commercial vehicles, industrial equipment, or a related industry preferred
• Computer savvy: SAP & MS Office
