Asst 7hr, Stdt Nutr Hillsborough County Public Schools, Wimauma: Morgan High – Wimauma, Florida School Year: 2026‑2027 Hours: 7:00‑2:30 PM Summary: The Assistant 7 Hour Student Nutrition follows all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Student Nutrition Services (SNS) guidelines and procedures. Performs manual work in preparation, serving, and cashiering of federal reimbursable meals and a‑la‑carte foods to students and staff, under immediate supervision. Responsibilities Assist students during meal service to ensure a pleasant experience and compliance with health, safety, and school rules. Prepare, cook, and serve all food items, including hot and cold meals, ensuring correct portion sizes and replenishing the serving line. Take food temperatures during preparation and serving, record all temperatures, and take corrective action if items are not within safe zones. Set up a serving line for meals, obtain correct paper products and utensils, and display food attractively. Provide friendly and respectful customer service, acknowledge students by name, thank them, keep the serving area clean, and encourage healthy food choices. Enter meal components correctly, document emergency meal transactions, handle cash and checks accurately, and follow end‑of‑day procedures for cash control. Receive, check‑in, and stock food; check‑out food for production; organize storage rooms, refrigerators, and freezers. Maintain program accountability, including compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations; record documentation for production records, HACCP, meal accountability, and cash procedures. Circulate throughout the cafeteria, assist students, encourage good table manners, balanced meals, and try unfamiliar foods. Assist SNS staff with special diet requests, ensuring students receive the correct food. Assist with food tastings, offering samples of new foods and soliciting feedback. Prepare and clean 'allergy-free' tables according to procedures. Ensure cafeteria tables, serving line, and kitchen areas are cleaned, stored properly, and ready for the next group of students; assist overall clean‑up. Perform any other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience: Sufficient kitchen or cooking experience to acquire knowledge and ability as specified. Language: Reads and interprets safety rules and procedure manuals; writes routine reports; speaks effectively to groups. Mathematical: Adds/subtracts two‑digit numbers, multiplies/divides 10‑/100‑s, uses units of American money, weight, volume, distance. Reasoning: Applies understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; handles problems with few concrete variables. Computer: Basic computer skills. Physical: Ability to walk, stand, stoop, squat, handle, talk, hear, taste, smell, keyboard; lift up to 35 lb; reach with both hands; tolerate noise up to loud level; extremes of cold/heat; proximity to moving mechanical parts. Position Type: Full-time.
